[Review] Benefit Cosmetics They're Mascara & Push-Up Liner

benefit mascara eyeliner they're real

Hello babes, i hope you are all doing well. For todays post i will be reviewing two products from Benefit Cosmetics. Throughout the few months, i've tried quite a few products from Benefit, and so far i've loved most of thier products. In Australia Benefit is considered to be a high end brand along with Chanel, YSL and Dior, to my surprise there is no high end price tag, so that is a plus. Without further ado lets get onto the review!

They're Real Mascara

Due to the hype of the Benefit They're Real mascara, i really wanted to see how good this mascara was, so i went ahead and purchased a tube here. Firstly Benefit claims that this mascara lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates. (Wow that is alot for 1 mascara.) After wearing this mascara out for a few occasions, i do see that this mascara lengthens and separates but other than that it's just a normal mascara. I really love the amount of length i get from this mascara but what disappoints me the most is how this mascara holds my curl - well it actually doesn't... Immediately after applying this mascara on my curled lashes, my lashes droop back down, probably due to the fact that this mascara is pretty wet therefore weighing my lashes down. I guess that this mascara wasn't made for my asian straight lashes , which is pretty sad because it was quite expensive. Overall i was pretty upset because i thought this was a really good mascara like most people said on the net, but also keep in mind that just because this mascara didn't perform well on my lashes, this could be your next holy grail mascara.. who knows.

They're Real Push-Up Liner

Have you ever heard of a gel eyeliner in a pen? I know, pretty creative. Well as of last year Benefit released the first ever gel eyeliner in a pen form. Benefit's description of the liner "It’s the FIRST EVER lash-hugging gel liner in a pen! This matte black gel formula won’t smudge, budge or dry out, and the innovative soft AccuFlex™ Tip hugs your lash line from corner to corner. The closer the line, the bigger the eye!" The pen features a twist up bottom and a slanted tip for easy application. After using this eyeliner for a few times, I've noticed that the slanted tip is very useful for drawing precise lines. Also before using this eyeliner i would suggest to warm up the product first - when warming up the eyeliner just swipe it across the back of your hand then apply on your eyelids. I find that this helps my eyeliner glide on instead of tugging my eyes.

Hope you found this post helpful, have you tried these products before?

  1. I got a little sample of the They're Real mascara for Christmas and I thought it was a great mascara even though it didn't curl my lashes as much as I would've liked. I've heard so many mixed reviews on the eyeliner so I'd love to try it for myself! Great post, xx

  2. I'm glad I am not the only one that didn't get along with They're Real mascara. It didn't hold up my curl either. I only had a sample size of the gel liner and found it was a little difficult to work with, not sure if the full size is different.

  4. I LOVE the mascara. I wear it everyday as personally for me it works so well at holding a curl. I think it is one of those products that you either love or hate haha. Its a shame you didn't get on with it! I hate the eyeliner. I hate how hard it is to get off and that you have to buy the remover product as well.

    Lovely post!

  11. Hi Lisa!

I haven't tried any of these Benefit products yet, but I think this mascara will be good with me. I wont mind if it doesn't completely do what it says, but the length-ing effects will be good with me hihi..

I'm a mascara addict, basically I'm using three different mascara in my lashes so this one will be useful though.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about it.

And oh, I just followed you on Bloglovin and Twitter :)

  12. I LOVE their mascara. Tip I find is to dab away access mascara goop on a tissue before applying & you might have less droopiness perhaps. I have yet to attempt to use the liner but I've got the sample begging me to try. (BTW I think you're missing a word in your title?)

  13. i don't know what the hype around the They're Real mascara is. from what i can tell, if you already have long lashes then you're gonna love this mascara but for the asian stub lashes i have, it does noootthhing.
